Show: Finding Nemo Broadway Juniors Ages: 5-7 (actors MUST be at least 5 at the time of participation) One Week Session: 6/23-6/27 Monday-Friday: 9:00-3:00 p.m. Performance: Friday Afternoon 6/27 Venue: Athenaeum Center Address: 2936 N Southport Ave, Chicago IL 60657 Lunch & Recess: South Lakeview Park Finding Nemo takes young Broadway Campers on an adventure to explore the ends of the ocean. Marlin, an overprotective clownfish, wishes to shield his young son Nemo from the dangers beyond their coral reef. But one day, encouraged by his school of fish friends, Nemo takes a risk and swims out into open water –only to be captured by a diver! On his quest to find Nemo, Marlin teams up with the kind but forgetful Dory, and learns to “Just Keep Swimming,” even as he encounters terrifying sharks like Bruce, Chum, and Anchor. As his new Fish Tank friends help Nemo plot an escape from their aquarium, Marlin is learning to “Go with the Flow” by the totally rad sea turtles Crush and Squirt. The happy reunion of this little clownfish family is made even sweeter by all the friends they have met along the way out in the“Big Blue World." Broadway Juniors is a one-week encouraging introductory musical theater experience for young actors, specifically designed for ages 5-7. Guided by a fabulous Skyline Teaching Artist, Juniors actors are empowered to express themselves and find all the fun of bringing a character to life onstage. Broadway Juniors will enhance reading skills by reciting lines, learn to sing loudly and clearly to songs they love, and develop coordination and physical stamina through basic dance steps. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing acting games, coloring show-themed art projects, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp.
