Broadway Half Day Camp: The Lion King $500 Two Weeks: 8/4-8/15 9:00am-12:00pm Show date and time: Friday, August 15 at 11:00 AM St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 1235 Wilmette Ave. In Disney Classic The Lion King, Rafiki the baboon and his monkey pals Zuri and Zola introduce the audience to the wonders of the natural world in “Circle of Life.” Mufasa, Sarabi, Sarafina, and all the Pridelands are celebrating the birth of Simba –all except Scar who will never be king unless this new lion cub is out of the way. Simba’s best pal Nala, helps him avoid the watchful Zazu as Simba brags he “Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” until falling right into a trap set by Scar and his hysterical Hyenas, Bonzai, Shenzi, and Ed. Lost in the wilderness, Simba is taught to cast aside his worries by his new friends, Timon the Meerkat and Pumbaa the Warthog, in “Hakuna Matata.” Simba might go on ignoring his legacy forever –until Nala journeys from the wasted Pridelands to remind him of all those who still love him back home in “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” Over the course of two weeks, Broadway Half Day Camp will build confidence and develop performance skills as they are challenged and motivated to work together with their cast mates to create a polished and professional final show. Days will be packed with developing characters, rehearsing musical numbers, staging intricate scenes, becoming backstage leaders, and playing acting games. Instructions on how to assemble an original costume will be provided to families in advance of the thrilling final performance on the final date of this camp. Every actor will feel the glow of lighting up the stage and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family. The stage is set. The spotlight awaits. Discover the magic of theater with Skyline, where imaginations soar and young actors build confidence and develop a passion for the performing arts.
