Show: High School Musical Broadway Highlights Ages: 8-12 One-Week Session: 6/16-6/20 Monday-Friday: 9:00-4:00 p.m. Performance: Friday Afternoon 6/20 Venue: DePaul School Of Music Address: 2330 N Halsted St. Chicago, IL 60614 Lunch & Recess: Oz Park Fans of the famous movie will love discovering “The Start of Something New” onstage in High School Musical. Troy is predicted to be East High’s basketball champion, along with his pals Chad and Zeke. When his friend Gabriella transfers to his same school, her brain power is immediately noticed by Taylor, Martha –who are determined to win their science competition. But Troy and Gabriella don’t just love basketball and math –they are incredible singers! In “What I’ve Been Looking For,” Ms. Darbus, Drama Director, recognizes their talent, as does Kelsi, the student composer of this year’s musical. Now life for Sharpay and Ryan, East High’s resident Drama Club Divas, is turned upside down when everyone suddenly refuses to “Stick to the Status Quo.” With a heart-warming message of staying true to yourself, High School Musical shows that nothing feels better than following your dreams and finally “Breaking Free.” Broadway Highlights is a one-week engaging musical theater experience showcasing each actor’s unique talents, specifically designed for ages 8-12. An inspiring Skyline Teaching Artist “highlights” the abilities of every actor through a short script and beloved songs that also “highlight” the best moments of the show. Broadway Highlights will learn how to stage a show and memorize lines during a compact rehearsal process, audition for solos, and dance in fully staged musical numbers. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing drama games, crafting set elements, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp. Younger Sibling Discount: Beginning in January 2025, the only discount available will be the 10% off “Younger Sibling Discount” for additional siblings, after paying full price for registering an older sibling.
