Show: Annie Broadway Juniors Ages: 5-7 (actors MUST be at least 5 at the time of their participation) One-Week Session: 7/7-7/11 Monday-Friday: 9:00-3:00 p.m. Performance: Friday Afternoon 7/11 Venue: DePaul School Of Music Address: 2330 N Halsted St. Chicago, IL 60614 Lunch & Recess: Oz Park In 1930’s NYC, hope is tough to come by for the sweet and sassy orphans Pepper, July, Duffy, Kate, Tessie, and little Molly, who all still dream of their families. But Annie, fellow orphan and the ultimate optimist, and her sweet pup Sandy, lead them to still believe in “Tomorrow” even if today is “The Hard Knock Life.” When Annie has the chance to move in with Billionaire Oliver Warbucks, the ever-efficient Grace Farrell, and their incredible staff, Cecille, Annette, Drake, and Mrs. Pugh, she can’t believe her luck. But even in the face of the grumpy orphanage owner Ms. Hannigan and the evil schemes of her brother Rooster, and Lily St. Regis (like the hotel), Annie, her orphan pals, and radio stars, Bert and Bette, remind us all “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.” Broadway Juniors is a one-week encouraging introductory musical theater experience for young actors, specifically designed for ages 5-7. Guided by a fabulous Skyline Teaching Artist, Juniors actors are empowered to express themselves and find all the fun of bringing a character to life onstage. Broadway Juniors will enhance reading skills by reciting lines, learn to sing loudly and clearly to songs they love, and develop coordination and physical stamina through basic dance steps. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing acting games, coloring show-themed art projects, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp.
