The Lion King Broadway Stars Ages: 9-13 Two-Week Session: 7/7-7/18 Monday-Friday: 9:00-4:00 p.m. Performance: Friday 7/18 at 3:15pm Venue: Dovetail Studios Address: 2853 W Montrose 60618 Lunch & Recess: Horner Park In The Lion King, Rafiki the baboon and his monkey pals Zuri and Zola introduce the audience to the wonders of the natural world in “Circle of Life.” Mufasa, Sarabi, Sarafina, and all the Pridelands are celebrating the birth of Simba –all except Scar who will never be king unless this new lion cub is out of the way. Simba’s best pal Nala, helps him avoid the watchful Zazu as Simba brags he “Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” until falling right into a trap set by Scar and his hysterical Hyenas, Bonzai, Shenzi, and Ed. Lost in the wilderness, Simba is taught to cast aside his worries by his new friends, Timon the Meerkat and Pumbaa the Warthog, in “Hakuna Matata.” Simba might go on ignoring his legacy forever –until Nala journeys from the wasted Pridelands to remind him of all those who still love him back home in “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” Broadway Stars is a two-week in-depth musical theater experience challenging actors to put on an incredible show, specifically designed for ages 9-13. Expertly instructed by a talented Skyline Teaching Artist, actors hone their vocal, dance, and acting techniques, while working side by side with castmates to stage a polished final performance. Broadway Stars will be challenged to develop their individual characters, sing solos, and maybe even incorporate gymnastics and tricks into dances. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing improv games, crafting show backdrops, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp. Transfers: All camp transfers will be subject to a $25 administrative fee. If transferring less than two weeks before the camp start date, the fee is $50.
